A comprehensive evidence-based system designed to fulfill patient demand for physician guided nutrient therapy in the medical office.
If your patients are self-directing their nutritional supplements we can coach you to talk to them about these important points:
Quality and Purity – Are the ingredients of high quality and purity standards? Is my fish oil free from heavy metals and PCBs, often found in the fish themselves and which may be concentrated in the supplement I take every day?
Bioavailability – Are they bioavailable i.e., do they break down in such a way that my body can utilize them? Are they the right form of the nutrient for my body to use? Are the minerals chelated so that I can absorb them?
Correct Combination – Are they combined in a balanced formula to allow my body to use them more effectively?
Manufacturing Standards – Are they made according to high standards and manufacturing guidelines? Does each capsule/tablet contain exactly what is stated on the label?
Additives – Do my supplements contain artificial sweeteners, colors and excessive amounts of fillers? Can my body tolerate a daily dose of unwanted substances, and other chemicals that are incidental to the manufacturing process: e.g. artificial colors, sucrose, glycols, magnesium stearate?
Dose – Is my supplement in the correct dose and form for optimum results? Is the dosing researched and scientifically based?
Old Science – Is my supplement based upon “old science”? Are there much better, evidence-based options available now?
- Nutrient imbalances/needs can vary widely among individuals depending upon age, activity level, medical issues, family history, and prescribed medications.
- Because of this, the patient must be an educated consumer and consult with a knowledgeable licensed health care professional for guidance.
- It is best not to seek advice from a store clerk for nutrient supplementation for medical concerns!
